

She leaves behind her devoted husband John E. Spriggs, 94 who faithfully cared for, and attended to all of Phyllis' needs, daily by her bedside. Also to mourn her passing, son Rev. Dr. J. Wayne Spriggs (Janet) and Darlene Pidzamecky. She was predeceased by her daughter Lynne McTaggart in 2012. She was the grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Phyllis was raised in the Copetown area. Married to John in 1953 they took up residence in Hamilton. In 1974 they moved to Burlington where she remained until 2018 when she moved to Elmira with her daughter. She is remembered for her love of tradition, fondness of all things literary, interest in family history, friendly chatty nature and devotion to her grandchildren and all their pursuits. She was a Sunday School teacher with several churches and many of her students kept in touch right into their adulthood. Phyllis was raised in the Church of the Nazarene. Following marriage was a member or adherent of Mount Hamilton Baptist Church, Park Avenue Church, Compass Point Church, and Philpott Memorial Church. She was well known for her homemade taffy apples and varied seasonal pies. Phyllis became the adopted mother to several over the years. One of her great loves were cats.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marlatt Funeral Home of Dundas. A private family service has been held.
