Ursula Irmgard Bennett

Passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025 surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 77, after a prolonged illness. Ursula was the most remarkable mother to Holly (Dale Nicholson), Jamie (Beth) and Emily (Mark Munzar), and was delighted to be Oma to Wyatt, Isabelle, Evelyn, Josephine and Veronica. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Jim, parents Frank and Elisabeth Trmal, brother Rainer Trmal (Linda) and her in-laws Jim Bennett Sr, Heather Crews, Charlie Bennett and Kathy Williamson.

She was a cherished sister and first best friend to Brigitte Diggins and a loving aunt to Christopher, Amanda, Alexandra, Rachel, David, Dawn, Douglas, Colin and Adam and Great-Aunt to Andi, Katja, Leo, and Eloise. Ursula treasured her life-long friendship with Frank and Suzanne and the whole Kovacs family. In her last years she was also enormously grateful for Bonnie Perry, whose friendship, compassionate care, and advocacy, were a source of comfort and vital support.

Ursula was born in Mannheim, West Germany and arrived in Canada in 1954 with her mother and siblings to join her father, who had come a year earlier to establish himself in their new country. They built a life filled with friends, shared meals and celebrations, all centred around family.

Ursula’s family and friends will miss her courage, unwavering and fierce support, sharp wit, her generosity, and her love of fun. Ursula loved people, loved to travel, and loved nothing better than to hop in the car to go visit her kids or friends, go shopping, or even just go get pie from some place she found on another road trip.

The family would like to extend its gratitude to all the staff at Extendicare Hamilton, and particularly those on the Fennell Unit, who provided such compassionate care in Ursula’s last days.

A funeral service will be held at MARLATT FUNERAL HOME “SWACKHAMER CHAPEL” at 195 King Street West, Dundas on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 at 11 am. Cremation has taken place.

Donations to the Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
