

Alana Lynn Ferrante, 19, of South Windsor, passed away suddenly into eternal life on Friday, September 18, 2015 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Born in Manchester on January 26, 1996, a loving daughter of Vincent P. and Louise (Windisch) Ferrante, she had been a lifelong resident of South Windsor. Alana was a graduate of South Windsor High School, Class of 2014 where she was a star volleyball player for the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team. She also was a manager of the Boys’ Volleyball team and a talented member of the Treble Choir and the Track & Field team where she was a Javelin thrower. She was presently a sophomore attending the University of Connecticut, transferring from Central Connecticut State University where she was a member of the CCSU Women’s’ Club Volleyball team. She was a member and participant of the Connecticut Volleyball Academy (Eastern CT) and coached a 17-U Girls’ team for CTVA. Alana had a strong Catholic faith and attended and volunteered at St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor for several years. She also worked in the area as “Anna from Frozen” for My Princess Dream Parties; loved dogs, and had a love for adventure cherishing her time hiking and camping especially with her brother.
Along with her parents, Alana is survived by her brother and best friend, Justin P. Ferrante of South Windsor; her maternal grandmother, Louise (Stupur) Windisch of South Windsor and formerly of Shelton; her pet dog, Zoe; many caring and devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Rita (Nadeau) Ferrante of Glastonbury; her maternal grandfather, Frederick Windisch of Shelton; and her dog, Cosmo.
Funeral service will be Saturday (September 26th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 am at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning). Burial will follow at Wapping Cemetery, Ellington Road, South Windsor. Relatives and friends may call at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Friday (September 25th) from 2:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
