

Allan Tracy Driscoll, life-long East Hartford resident and East Hartford’s Probate Judge from January 6, 1999 through December 31, 2013 passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford on September 17, 1948, he was the son of the late Benedict Malone Driscoll, Sr. and Helen (Brown) Driscoll. He attended the little Red School House (where St Isaac Jogues Church is now) and the Community House (which is now the Lois Nolan Larson Community Center in Mayberry Village), Center School, East Catholic High School, and the University of Connecticut ‘70, ‘77 JD.
Upon graduation from UCONN in 1970, Allan worked for three years at the Connecticut Department of Corrections and attended Central Connecticut State College to pursue a Masters in History but left after being accepted at UCONN Law School. After graduating from UConn Law he spent 9 years working for the UConn Student Government. UConn’s 1986 Nutmeg Yearbook was dedicated to him. During his years at UConn he helped to establish the UConn Federal Credit Union and also was a former President of the UConn Coop. Following his time at UCONN he was a jury clerk at the New Britain Superior Court and in private practice. He was also a graduate of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and had been a volunteer Newscaster on East Hartford’s local cable access channel from 1986 until April 2013.
He was married on September 11, 1971 to Eileen (Pons) Driscoll at St Matthew’s Church in Forestville. He was a member and past President of the Historical Society of East Hartford. He also served as a member of the East Hartford Town Council from 1993-1998 and had been a member of the East Hartford Democratic Town Committee.
In addition to his wife Eileen, he is survived by his children, Regan Tracy Driscoll Dixon and her husband Bryan Dixon, of Vernon, and his son, Davitt Fox Driscoll and Dana Manzo, as well as his niece Michelle Driscoll and Colby George. He also leaves behind two special cousins, Ellen McCreery and Fred Rood and his wife Vanessa R. Butler. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Benedict Malone Driscoll, Jr.
Calling hours will be from 4 pm - 7 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024 at D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. A memorial service celebrating Allan’s life will take place on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11 am at the Unitarian Universalist Society East, 153 West Vernon Street, Manchester.
