

Andrew A. Bednarz, 92, of East Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, (September 15, 2010). Born in Windsor, a son of the late Lawrence and Catherine (Hrynchuk) Bednarz, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 44 years. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, Andrew was employed for over 40 years by Arrow-Hart & Hegeman, a division of Cooper Industry in Hartford. He loved gardening, as he was born and raised on the Bednarz Farm in Windsor. He was a long-time avid and loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, who watched or listened to most of their ball games during his life. He also enjoyed ceramics-casting molds, and was a communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Andrew is survived by his children, Candace Bednarz of Manchester and Brett D. Bednarz of East Hartford. He also leaves a granddaughter, Tiffanie Ortiz and her fiancé, Eddie Ojeda, of Manchester; a great-granddaughter, Akelia Ojeda who was ""The Apple of his Eye""; a great-grandson, Derek D. Ojeda; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Andrew was predeceased by seven brothers, John James, Michael Bednarz, Walter Bednarz, John Bednarz, Frank Bednarz, Louis Bednarz, and Joseph Bednarz. Funeral services will be Monday (September 20th) at 9:15 AM from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, Soldiers Memorial Field, (Section 29), Hartford.
