Anthony Tony Milardo

Anthony ""Tony"" L. Milardo, 70, of East Hartford, loving husband of Myriam (Vera) Milardo, passed away suddenly on Friday (April 29, 2011). Born in Melilli, province of Siracusa, Italy, he was a son of the late Louis and Maryann (Mazzotta) Milardo, and had been a resident of East Hartford for over 23 years. Tony was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1960 and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Prior to his retirement in 2010, Tony was employed as a Security Guard for 14 years by the Phoenix Insurance Company, and previously retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Middletown, after 20 years. A dedicated hard working individual, Tony never missed or was late a day of work during his professional career. A proud grandfather to his four grandchildren, Tony made every effort to support each of them at all of their activities and sporting events. Tony will be dearly missed and loved by all who knew him. Along with being together with Myriam for 30 years, Tony is survived by two special sons, Harold Vera and his wife, Stacey, of East Hartford, Luis Vera and his wife, Cathy, of East Hartford; two brothers, Frank S. Milardo of Middletown, Rosario ""Rusty"" Milardo of Meriden; two sisters, Rose Szilagyi and Nellie March and her husband, Bill, all of East Hampton; four adored grandchildren, Jakob, Jaylen, Madisyn, and Cassidy Vera all of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, cousins, former co-workers, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday (May 3rd) at 10:30 a.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Military honors will take place at the funeral home following the service. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
