

Carl Franklin Fraleigh, 61, of East Hartford, loving husband of 38 years of Nancy (Navickis) Fraleigh, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 surrounded by his caring family in the comfort of his home. Born in Kingston, NY on September 14, 1962, a son of the late Dale B. and Eileen T. (Walther) Fraleigh, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 35 years. Carl was a graduate of Glastonbury High School, class of 1980. He was employed for most of his career as a Software Engineer by several area manufacturing companies, most recently at Electric Boat of General Dynamics where he was proud and loved to work.
Carl was an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and camping. He liked traveling and visiting Garnett Lake in the Adirondacks of Johnsburg, NY and Garland Pond in Sebec, Maine. He was an intelligent man who liked making model amusement parks and working with model trains. He also enjoyed astronomy and historical facts. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who received great joy surrounded by his entire family.
Along with his beloved wife Nancy, Carl is survived by his four cherished daughters, Samantha A. Fraleigh of East Hartford, Rebecca F. Rodriguez and her husband Kevin of Enfield, Jessica F. Brown and her husband Jesse of Andover, Kimberly M. Fraleigh and her significant other, Kevin Santana of East Hartford; five adored grandchildren, Alice, Elliott, Sadie, Jacob, and Sawyer; and a special dear friend, Christopher Lewandoski of East Hartford. He also leaves two brothers, Eric Fraleigh and his wife Patricia of Sedona, AZ, Kurt Fraleigh of Glastonbury; a sister, Lisa Fraleigh and her husband John Manning of Logan, Utah; three brothers-in-law, Alex Navickis and his wife Rosemary of Jaffrey, NH, Thomas Navickis of Glastonbury, Charles Navickis and his wife Beth of Wallingford; two sisters-in-law, Mary Mead and her husband Charles of York, ME, Janet Coffin and her significant other Mike Doyan of Sherman, ME; many nieces, nephews, cousins, former co-workers, and friends.
Funeral service will be Friday (December 29th) at 10:30 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with Rev. David Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Main Street, South Windsor. Carl’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (December 28th) from 4 – 7 pm at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carl’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
