Carolyn Ann McKinley

Carolyn Ann (Craig) McKinley, 80, of East Hartford, loving wife of 58 years of Richard Saunders McKinley, Sr., peacefully passed away with her caring family by her side on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Newark, New Jersey on June 29, 1942, a daughter of the late Lawrence “Larry” and Alice (Pascoe) Craig, she had resided in Phoenix, AZ for 30 years prior to moving to East Hartford in 2003. Carolyn was a proud and devoted wife and mother who took great pride in caring for her family. She was always willing to listen to them and give them good advice and a lending hand when needed. She loved shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was also an animal lover (especially of dogs and cats) who rescued cats for several years.

In addition to her beloved husband Richard, Carolyn is survived by her son, Richard S. McKinley, Jr. and his wife Helga of East Hartford; and her daughter, Robin L. McKinley of East Hartford with whom she made her home. She also leaves a special nephew, Johnny Black and his wife Sue of Brick, NJ; other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Edward Popp of Brooklyn, NY and a sister, Ellen Black of Brick, NJ.

Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carolyn’s name may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
