It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear father, Charles Herbert Tischofer (known to all as "Herb" or "Charlie") on February 15, 2025, at his home at Evergreen Crossings, South Windsor, CT. Herb's years at Evergreen Crossing were filled with laughter, adventure, and warm friendships. Herb previously lived in East Hartford, Glastonbury and Groton Long Point, Connecticut, and Delray Beach and Naples, Florida.
Herb graduated from East Hartford High School and Bryant College, Rhode Island, with a degree in business. Herb enjoyed much success in the two businesses he truly enjoyed, the auto business and real estate. He had an unwavering commitment to being kind, helpful and empathetic to everyone who came into his life. Once you met Herbie, you were a treasured friend for life. Herb enjoyed sailing the Caribbean Islands, power boating, fishing, golfing, and travel, domestic and abroad. For years, Herb served as Major in the East Hartford Fife and Drum Corp. and was an active participant in Rotary Club until recently. Family and belief in God were most important to Herb. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Herb is survived by his loving children: Donna (James) Wakim of Old Saybrook, CT and Charles (Martha) Tischofer of Portland, CT; his grandchildren Leah (Wesley) Krell; Giulia (Greg) Wakim-Thompson; Gregory (McKenzie) Tischofer; great grandchildren, Maizy & Graham Krell.
In addition, Herb leaves a very special friend, Lynne Gustafson, and dear friends, Ron and Joyce Massimino. Herb also leaves brother-in-law Eugene Beaudoin, sisters-in-law Betty Consolini and Angela Tischofer, and many nieces and nephews. Herb was predeceased by his loving wife Julia Consolini Tischofer in 2015, parents Charles and Elizabeth, brother Arthur Tischofer, and sister, Joyce Jarish.
The Tischofer family sends special thanks to his amazing caregiver/friend, Amin, Dr. Michael Deshaies and Dr. Saqib Naseer.
