Claire C. (lynburn) Hickey

Claire C. (Lynburn) Hickey, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late James R. Hickey, peacefully passed on into eternal life on Saturday, (January 20, 2007) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Quincy, MA, a daughter of the late Walter and Bernadette (LeClair) Lynburn, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1950. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the town of East Hartford Board of Education as a Para Professional at the Dr. Franklin H. Mayberry Elementary School. Claire was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN athletics, as well as bird watching and feeding birds. However, Claire had her most enjoyment being with her family and spending many summers with them at Duxbury Beach in Massachusetts. Besides her beloved husband of 55 years and her parents, Claire was predeceased by a son, Jerome Hickey of South Windsor, and a daughter, Susan Simko of Hartford. Claire is survived by her caring two sons, Thomas G. Hickey of East Hartford with whom she made her home, Terry M. Hickey and his wife, Donna of Coventry; a daughter, Bonnie Scott of Fisher's Island, NY; and two other daughters-in-law, Pamela E. Hickey of East Hartford, Maureen Hickey of South Windsor. Nanna leaves her special grandchildren, Debbie Phillips and her husband, Ed of Boston, MA, James Hickey of Martha's Vineyard, MA, Kara Hickey of South Windsor, Jennifer Hickey of Coventry, and Jordan Hickey of Coventry. Claire also leaves her Simko and Scott grandchildren and their families as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A private graveside service will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rockland, MA at the convenience of her family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Claire's name may be made to the Fidelco Guide dog Foundation, Inc., 103 Old Iron Ore Road, Bloomfield, CT, 06002. The D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
