

Daniel A. “Danny” Toce, Sr., 81, of East Hartford and formerly of New Britain, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on January 7, 1943, a son of the late Rocco A. and Asunta “Susan (Cavallo) Toce, Sr., he had been a resident of New Britain for 30 years and East Hartford for many years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was formerly employed for many years as a Technician by Parker X-Ray Co., East Hartford and later worked at Thames River Recycling Company, Middletown. Danny was a talented Duckpin bowler who participated in several area leagues. An avid fan of the New York Yankees, he received great joy in spending time with his family, especially with his children and grandchildren.
Danny is survived by his six children, Danielle Loizou and her husband Cleo of Bristol, Troy Toce and his wife Crystal of Middletown, Joseph Toce and his girlfriend Crystal of Mansfield, Savanna Toce and her boyfriend Nick of Middletown, Anthony Toce of Columbia, and Daniel A. Toce, Jr. of Columbia; four cherished grandchildren, Ryan Toce, Mason Toce, Emma Toce, Sara Sanzo and her husband Christopher; one adored great-grandson, Niko Sanzo; a sister, Carol Kelly and her husband James of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with his parents, Danny was predeceased by a son, Daniel Toce of New Britain; five brothers, Gerald Toce, Anthony Toce, Rocco Toce, Jr., John Toce, Ronald Toce; and five sisters, Elaine Plungy, Theresa Brown, Carmela Levere, Annemarie Whitaker, and Rose Marie Hiltgen.
Funeral service will be Sunday, February 18, 2024 at 12 noon at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. There will be military honors immediately after the service outside the funeral home. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Danny’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday morning from 10 am to 12 noon at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Danny’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
