Denise (Pearson) Werhle-Warner, 59, of Somers, formerly of Coventry & Willimantic passed away suddenly Thursday October 23rd at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, CT she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Nancy (O’Rourke) Pearson and lived in Coventry for most of her life graduating from Coventry High School. Prior to her retirement she was employed as the Assistant Administrator for the Andover Day Program. She is survived by two sons, Brian Werhle and his wife Katie of Bolton and Richard Werhle of Sarasota, FL, her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Norman of Tolland, two brothers, Johnny Pearson of New Hampshire and Billy Pearson of Mansfield, two sisters, Nancy Tetreault of Pomfret Center and Susan Pearson of Manchester and seven grandchildren; Kayln, Nicholas, Christopher, Jack, Victoria, Aubrey and Caeleb who she loved more than life itself. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Michael and her sister, Donna.
Denise had an endless love for her family, her kids and a love for her grandkids that will forever leave a whole in our hearts. For such a big portion of her life she was an avid volleyball player and could always be seen participating in events including coaching basketball, softball & soccer teams as her children grew up. She could always be known to attend every sporting event and recital her kids were a part of but it was never just about her own three children. Denise was known as a second mother to so many providing everything from rides, encouragement, meals & snacks after sporting events and even a place to stay or live for any friend who was going through a difficult time or just needed some extra love in their life. If there was ever a household to be at after school for some snacks and good times it was always ""Mom's"" house. Later in life there was never a more dedicated grandmother who made every effort possible no matter what her health condition, to attend every birthday party, graduation, and sporting event possible for all seven of her beloved grandkids.
When Denise started getting sick a few years ago we knew how strong she was but know one was prepared to see how much fight she truly had in her. When she was diagnosed with bladder cancer she promised her family that she would fight the disease and never give up and within a year was in remission and eventually cancer free. Less than two years later Denise would suffer a massive stroke and worked so hard to recover. She was able to move out of her assisted living home and once again be back out on her own. Even in her final days she fought so hard but her body just wasn't able to keep up with the strength that was in her heart & mind and now because of her faith she has started her eternal life in heaven with our God. Her courage and strength will be an inspiration to her family & friends for years to come .
Our family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Crossroads Community Cathedral at 1492 Silver Lane in East Hartford CT 06118. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. also at Crossroads Community Cathedral in East Hartford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
