

Doris Ann (Roy) Dufresne, 76, of East Hartford, loving wife of 57 years of the late Marc Michael Dufresne, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Houlton, Maine on June 16, 1944, a daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Faulkner) Roy, she had been a resident of the East Hartford/Manchester area for over 65 years. Doris was a graduate of Manchester High School, class of 1962. A devout catholic, Doris was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church, East Hartford. Lifelong campers, Doris and Marc loved camping at Waters Edge Campground in Lebanon, as they were “glued at the hip” and enjoyed life together side by side as soulmates. Doris had a passion for playing cards, bingo, and visiting Mohegan Sun Casino. She was a talented baker who was known for her apple pies, sour cream cakes, and chocolate chip cookies. Doris was also a longtime avid fan of the UConn Women’s basketball team. Doris took great pride in maintaining her home and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had a magnetic personality that would make anyone she would meet her friend within five minutes. Doris loved nothing more than having her family gathered together. She always brought life to any room she entered. She had a well-known laugh that was contagious as she touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all.
Doris is survived by her three children, Michael Dufresne and his wife Linda of Ashford, Kimberly Colantonio and her husband Richard of Hebron, Brian Dufresne and his wife Vittoria of Cromwell; five adored grandchildren, Nicholas Colantonio, Amber Colantonio, Laura Osika and her husband Daniel, Marc Dufresne, and David Dufresne. Doris also leaves a brother, Joseph Roy and his wife Betty of Easthampton, MA; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn, Loretta, Isabelle and her husband Gerald; six brothers-in-law, George and his wife Judy, Gerald, Arthur, Donald and his wife Fran, Lucien, Richard and his wife Dotti; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by a brother Donald Roy of Enfield; and two sisters, Shirley Lano and her husband Fred of Wilmington, DE, Joyce Roy of Vernon.
The funeral service will be held Friday (March 19, 2021) at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Doris’ family will receive relatives and friends on Friday afternoon from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm at the funeral home chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 2:30 pm at St. Mary’s Church of the North American Martyrs Parish, Main Street/Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section H), East Hartford. Due to the current health pandemic, everyone attending is asked to please wear a face covering and adhere to all of the state and church regulations.
