Dorothy H. Sanders

Dorothy was born in Rockville, CT, on June 23, 1927 to her late parents Henry and Sophie (Deptula) Walker of Rockville. She was a graduate of St Joseph’s Parochial School and Rockville High School.

Dorothy worked at the Hartford Insurance Company as a clerk typist. After raising her six children she worked nights at the Travelers Insurance agency.

Dorothy is survived by her five beloved and loving children, Kenneth R. Sanders of East Hartford, CT, Karen L. and Hank Travis of Centerport, NY, Gary E. Sanders of Windsor, CT, Paula J. and Gary McArdle of Madison, AL, Wayne L. and Sarah Sanders of Hampden, MA, son-in-law Stephen Livingston of South Windsor, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, sister-in-law Jean Anderson of West Hartford, and brother-in-law Paul Anderson of West Hartford. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her daughter, Kimberly J. Livingston and daughter-in- law Nancy Sanders. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her siblings brothers Henry Walker, Daniel Walker and sister Lucille Burke, sister-in-law Patty Reid, and brother-in-law Ben Reid.

Family and friends of Dorothy’s family may join in celebration of her life on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, (Section H), East Hartford. At the family’s request, everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Wednesday morning. Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 4 – 6:30 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dorothy’s childhood church, St Joseph’s Church, 33 West Street, Rockville, CT 06066 and/or St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford, CT 06118.
