Edward Norman Lataille, precious husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed from this life into eternal life on Sunday, December 28, 2014, which appropriately is the Feast of The Holy Family. Eddie was surrounded by his family at home and bedside vigil was maintained round the clock. Eddie was born to the late Marie Anne (Loiseau) and Emile Lataille on January 29, 1944, in Southbridge, MA. In the summer of 1961, his family moved to East Hartford, where he met Cynthia, who would one day become his bride. The love story begins. Eddie served his country for six years in the Army National Guard. Before Eddie's retirement in 2010, he served as a custodian extraordinaire at St. James School in Manchester. Eddie will always be remembered for his contagious, ever-present smile and positive attitude. He was quick to answer calls for help, especially with TVs, photography and computers and he would tackle any fix-it job. Besides his wife of 49 years, Cynthia, he leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Michelle Anne Lataille and her husband, Stan Rutkowski, of Stow, MA; his son Stephen Edward Lataille and his wife, Gail (Pedneault), of Glastonbury; two brothers, Richard Lataille and his wife, Rita, of Lebanon, Roland Lataille and his wife, Lynne, of Cromwell; several nieces, nephews and many friends. But if you ever noticed the sparkle in his eyes, that was for his cherished granddaughters, Hana and Molly Lataille, who will miss their Papa always. Funeral service will be Friday (January 2, 2015) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning). Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (Mausoleum), Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Thursday (January 1, 2015) from 2-5 pm. Eddie loved flowers, but only in his gardens. So, per his request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eddie's name may be made to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, National Council of the United States, 58 Progress Parkway, Maryland Heights, MO, 63043-3706 or St. James School, 73 Park Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
