

Emily (Furtado) Clay, 96, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Frederick George Clay, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Apple Rehabilitation Center in Colchester. Born in Fall River, MA on July 5, 1918 a daughter of the late John and Maria (Santis) Furtado, she had been a resident of East Hartford for over 50 years. Emily was a proud home maker and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her entire family. She was a former communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Besides her beloved husband and parents Emily was predeceased by her two sons, Fred Clay and Kenneth Clay both of East Hartford.
Emily is survived by two grandsons, Kenneth Clay of New Britain, Christopher Clay and his wife, Shannon, of Vernon; three sisters, Ann, Georgiana, and Linda all of Fall River, MA; eleven great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Louis Hakeem of Tiverton, RI; several other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday (October 2nd) at 12 noon at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
