Gabrielle (racine) Kramer

Gabrielle (Racine) Kramer, 91, of East Hartford, loving wife of 54 years to the late John E. Kramer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, (June 2, 2009) at the Hebrew Home & Hospital in West Hartford. Born in Barton, VT on October 1, 1917, a daughter of the late Delphis and Alma (Courtemanche) Kramer, she grew up in Barton and Jericho, VT before moving to Hartford in 1944, and has resided in East Hartford for the past 60 years. Gabrielle was employed by Colt Manufacturing in Hartford, G. Fox & Co., Hartford, and the AARP Pharmacy in East Hartford where she retired from in 1985. Gabrielle was a former communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford and enjoyed sewing and reading on her sun porch with her cat. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Gabrielle was predeceased by three sisters, Valeda, Doris, and Marie; and six brothers, Conrad, George, Lionel, Rene, Lucien, and Eugene; along with several nieces and nephews. Gabrielle is survived by her only daughter, Shirley A. Enman and her husband, Micky, of East Hartford; her only granddaughter, Michelle A. Enman and her fiancé, Jack Martin, of Manchester; and her beloved kitty, Boots. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and their spouses. Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gabrielle's name may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. Gabrielle's family would like to thank each and every staff member at the Hebrew Home & Hospital in West Hartford for their kindness, professionalism, care, and their every effort to make Gabrielle comfortable in her last days with us.
