

George A. Uras, 85, of Manchester and formerly of East Hartford, loving husband of sixty years to the late Mary H. (Pluta) Uras, passed away Sunday, (September 9, 2012). He was born June 13, 1927, in Hartford, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Clemens) Uras. George had been a resident of East Hartford for over forty years prior to moving to Manchester. He was a faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford. George was a proud grandfather who enjoyed watching and supporting his grandchildren through the many years of playing sports. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women's Basketball fan. George is survived by his two daughters, Mary Jane Tierinni and her husband, Michael, of Manchester with whom he resided , Shirley Popowycz and her husband, John, of Hellertown, PA; a special granddaughter, Stephanie McKenna with whom he enjoyed spending Fridays and her husband, Robert, of East Hartford, a grandson, Steven Tierinni and his girlfriend, Lauren Carlson of Vernon, granddaughter, Tanya Bubori and her fiancée, Matthew Weaver of Hellertown, PA, grandson, Kevin Popowycz and his wife, Becky, of Hopatcong, NJ; and four adored great-grandchildren, Caleb Tierinni and Emma McKenna, who were his special Friday lunch buddies, and Savannah Bubori and Makayla Bubori both of Hellertown, PA. He also leaves a sister, Ruth Kaminski and her husband, Joseph, of Glastonbury; three nieces; Carol Kiebish, Margie Paolino, Debbie DiMugno and one nephew, Robert Kaminski, one great-niece and five great nephews, including Joseph Kiebish whom he enjoyed having lunch with. He also leaves three special friends; Marie Tierinni whom he enjoyed lunches and dinners with every day and Jackie and Dave Whalen whom he also enjoyed spending time with. He was predeceased by a brother Edward Uras and a brother-in-law Walter Pluta and his wife Isabelle.
Funeral services will be Saturday, (September 15) at 9:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial will be at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery (Section J), Bloomfield.
