

Jean-Luc Belanger, 85, of East Hartford, loving husband of 58 years to Laurette (Jacques) Belanger, who predeceased him in August of this year, peacefully entered into eternal life with his caring family by his side on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in St. Come, Quebec, Canada on August 1, 1929, a son of the late David and Laura (Rheaume) Belanger, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1967. Prior to moving to the United States, he was a lumberjack in Canada. Jean-Luc worked as a carpenter for Hartford Local # 43 in the construction industry for most of his life. A devout Catholic, he was an active communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. He was a long-time member of the Immaculate Retreat House in Willimantic where he volunteered many hours with his late wife. He was a member of the French Social Circle, East Hartford, the La Rencontre in Bristol, and the Canadian-American Association, where he served as president, but most of all, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Besides his beloved wife and parents he was predeceased by a son-in-law, James Fentner of Rocky Hill. Jean-Luc will be dearly missed by two sons, Jacques Belanger of East Hartford, with whom he resided and Paul Belanger and his wife Anne of East Hartford; two daughters, Lise Fentner of Rocky Hill and Renee Viens and her husband Donald, of East Hartford and two adored granddaughters, Rebecca Belanger and her fiancé Adam Vess of Flagstaff, AZ and Samantha Belanger of East Hartford. He also leaves his sister Claire Belanger and a sister-in-law Gilberte Belanger, both of Canada, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Monday (September 29th) at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Entombment will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Mausoleum, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (September 28th) from 3-6 p.m. Memorial contributions in Jean-Luc's name may be made to the
