

Jean (Buscema) Strano, 88, of Glastonbury and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully went to meet Jesus and her family in Heaven on Thursday, May 18, 2017 surrounded by her caring family. Jean was the loving wife of over 57 years of the late Emanuel ""Manny"" Strano. Born in Modica, province of Sicily, Italy on July 30, 1928, a daughter of the late George and Rosanna (Amore) Buscema, she had resided in the Hartford/East Hartford area for most of her life prior to moving to Glastonbury 18 years ago. Jean was the former Owner and Operator with her late husband, Manny, of Strano Bakery in Manchester for over 40 years. A devout Catholic, she was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. She loved cooking (especially for her family), watching game shows on television, visiting the casinos, and playing cards. Jean is survived by her beloved son, Angelo S. Strano and his fiancée, Linda Bryans, of South Glastonbury with whom she made her home; four cherished grandchildren, Manny Strano of Middletown, Jessica Strano-Rex and her husband, Matt, of Suffield, Joseph Strano of South Glastonbury, Gina Strano-Lastrina and her husband, Sebastiano, of South Windsor; and five adored great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Mia, Emma, and Avianna. She also leaves a step-son, Joseph Floridia of Sicily, Italy; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was predeceased by an infant daughter, Rosanna Floridia of Italy; a son, George Strano of East Hartford; a daughter, Carol Mazzo of Manchester; three brothers John Buscema, Frank Buscema, Antonio Buscema all of Canada; two sisters, Grace Alesio of Canada and Maria Letizio of Hartford. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 9:30 am from the D'ESOPO- East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, Brandon Road/May Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, (Section M), Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 4 - 7 pm.
