Jeff was born to Yolanda and James on April 24, 1954, at Hartford Hospital. He grew up with his younger sister and big brother in East Hartford, Connecticut. He loved sports and played baseball and basketball. Later in life, he coached his daughters’ sports teams and became an avid fan of the UConn Huskies, the Giants, and the Yankees. He was an extremely active and loving father to his young children, always the only Dad in the neighborhood sledding with all the kids on snow days, or playing basketball in the driveway in the summer. He was a proud uncle to his beloved nieces and nephews.
Jeff received his bachelor's from the University of Connecticut School of Business in 1976. He later went on to study at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He worked as a Director of Sales for Walters Kluwer Tax and Accounting for 25 years.
There were never enough songs for Jeff to listen to or dance moves for him to try out. Jeff loved music and was most at home dancing in the living room with his family to Van Morrison, playing air guitar to Santana while cooking in the kitchen, and driving with the windows down to the Counting Crows. Jeffrey’s friendships, many of which began in childhood and spanned decades, were among the most precious gifts of his life.
In 12-step rooms, it’s often said that people are “spiritual beings having a human experience.” While Jeff’s human experience was cut short by the illness of addiction, the love felt by every person his spirit touched will never die.
His children were with him in the last days of his life, and what they want the world to know about their father is that he was their first love, the only person whose shoulders they'd ever climbed up on, and the first person to show them the Pacific Ocean. On family vacations, he was always trying to squeeze in just fifteen more minutes of sunshine before leaving. Now, his spirit is forever with the light, unbound by space and time. His daughters will find him in every place the light touches, and never forget the lessons and gifts of his life.
A private funeral was held at D'Esopo Chapel in East Hartford on November 21, 2023. The burial will be at a later time in California.
