Joan Conti

Joan E. (Farnham) Conti, 73, of East Hartford, beloved wife of John J. Conti, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side. Joan was born in Hartford on June 12, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Earle and Mildred (Foley) Farnham. Joan and John were married on October 17, 1964 at St. Christopher Church and enjoyed 51 years together. Joan took exceptional pride in her home. She loved collecting, enjoyed her family vacations to Newport R.I. and was a huge UCONN basketball fan. Joan was a licensed hairdresser and later spent many years at the Hartford Insurance Company where she made many life-long friends. In addition to her husband John, she will be missed by her sister Denise Ruddy and her companion, Brian Shaw of East Hartford, sister Linda Cattanach, her brother Roy Farnham and his wife Betty, and her sister-in-law MaryAnne Twarkins; as well as nephews Craig Ruddy, Steven Cattanach, Richard Farnham and Greg Farnham, niece Jessica Ruddy, and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her beloved son Mark Conti. Funeral services for Joan will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 11th from the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, from 5 to 7 at the funeral chapel.
