

John Bernard Nowik, 62, of East Hartford, is now in the arms of Our Lord as he joined his father in heaven on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Born in Hartford on July 28, 1960, son of Eugenia (Bairos) and the late Bernard C. Nowik, he had been a resident of East Hartford for most of his life. John enjoyed participating in Special Olympics where he made many friends and won several medals. He graduated from Manchester Regional Academy High School. He was a man of faith and an avid fan of the New England Patriots. He enjoyed watching television, especially Court TV & daily Mass. His favorite evening was ordering pizza with anchovies and watching old movies.
Along with his beloved caring mother, John is survived by his sister, Jeannine Borowiec and her husband Christopher of Windsor; two brothers, David Nowik and his wife Sara of Manchester, Robert Nowik and his wife Maria of Ventura, CA. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Taylor Borowiec and her husband, Sidney Allmendinger, Madison, Hannah & Lily Borowiec, and RJ, Zachary, & Michael Nowik; his step-father, Joseph E. Martocci and his extended family; his longtime dear friend Phronsie D’Elia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Besides his father, John was predeceased by a nephew, Jack Thomas Borowiec. The family would like to express deep appreciation for the lifetime of excellent care and love given to John from his extended family, and more recently, from the staff at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Cromwell.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 18, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Tuesday morning). There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford, CT 06118.
