Joseph G. Heim, 91, of East Hartford, loving husband of 61 years of the late Shirley (Burghardt) Heim, went to be reunited with his wife and the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Born in Hartford on May 8, 1932, a son of the late Joseph F. and Blanche (Bouffard) Heim, he had been a resident of the East Hartford area for most of his adult life. Prior to his retirement, Joseph was a truck driver for the town of Wethersfield and formerly with Bezzini Brothers Furniture in Manchester.
Joseph was a co-founder of the Central Connecticut Coin Club. He was an avid collector of coins, stamps, baseball cards, and other memorabilia. He liked going to area tag sales and helping his neighbors in whatever was needed, especially outside with yardwork and shoveling snow. He was also a loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns.
Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife and parents; his brother, Robert W. Heim of East Hartford; and two sisters, Dolores Kelly of South Windsor and Marie Rice of Cape Cod, MA. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, former co-workers, and friends.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (January 3, 2024) at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Village Cemetery, (Willard Section), Marsh Street, Wethersfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday morning from 10 – 11 am.
