

Joy Anne (Wood) Crimmins, 86, of South Windsor and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday (January 2, 2008), at a local nursing home. Joy was the loving wife for over fifty years to the late William C. Crimmins. Born on November 27, 1921 in Rutland, VT she had resided in East Hartford for sixty years prior to moving to South Windsor eighteen months ago. She was a daughter of the late George E. and Mary (Borah) Wood, who were the former proprietors of the City View Farm in Rutland, VT. Joy was a seamstress for many years and worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford during World War II. She was an active communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, East Hartford where she was a member of their Quilting Group, Care-Giver Group, and the Ladies Guild. Joy was a lifetime member and leader for the 4-H Club where she and her late husband were major contributors and volunteers for the 4-H Farm Resource Center in Bloomfield. Joy also found time to raise and nurture orphaned and injured wild animals for the Federal Wildlife Association. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Joy was predeceased by a son, William E. Crimmins of East Hartford, and a brother, George E. Wood, Jr. of Manchester. Joy Anne is survived by two devoted and caring sons, Timothy P. Crimmins and his wife, Maureen, of Windsor, Michael J. Crimmins and his domestic partner, Valerie McCormack, of Clearwater, FL; five special adored grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Eric, Derek, and Timothy William Crimmins; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Monday January 7 at 9 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Dr., East Hartford. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday January 6 from 5 - 7 p.m. Memorial contributions in Joy Anne's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O.
