

Kathleen D. (Marshall) Hartman, 93, of South Windsor and formerly of East Hartford, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Glastonbury. She was the loving wife of 58 years of the late Roger H. Hartman. Born in Pittsfield, MA on November 18, 1932, a daughter of the late James F. and Kathleen A. (Gladu) Hartman, she had been a resident of East Hartford for 60 years prior to moving to Evergreen Crossings in South Windsor over five years ago. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, MA, class of 1950.
Prior to her retirement, Kathleen was employed for 28 years by the U.S. Postal Service in East Hartford as a window clerk, with17 years being at the Silver Lane Post Office. A woman of strong faith, she was a former communicant of St. Christopher Church in East Hartford. She loved reading and would often go to the library in her local town. She was a longtime loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Women basketball teams. She also enjoyed traveling and going to area casinos. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who liked preparing and cooking Sunday dinners for her family and close friends, often having these dinners around the swimming pool.
Kathleen is survived by her two caring children, Susan H. Hopper and her husband Christopher of South Glastonbury, James F. Hartman and his wife Lisa of Marlborough; five special grandchildren, Amanda Roman and her husband Juan of East Hartford, Taylor Hartman of Rocky Hill, Brooke Hartman and her fiancé Mitch Mirabito of Charlestown, MA, Jessica Hopper of Cambridge, MA, Nicole Hopper and her fiancé Matt Gallagher of Hudson, MA; and three adored great-grandchildren, Jordy, Carson, and Presley Roman all of East Hartford. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Hartman of Saugus, MA and Beverly Bernard of Cape Cod, MA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Kathleen was predeceased by a cherished grandson, Wesley Francis of Charleston, SC, and a sister, Rosemary Belcher of Pittsfield, MA.
Funeral service will be Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Kathleen’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday morning from 10 – 11 am at the funeral home chapel.
