

Linda (Kleinsmith) Cyr, 74, of East Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday (September 29, 2010) encircled by her caring family's love at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in White Plains, NY on March 15, 1936 a daughter of the late Frederick J. and Linda (Zarska) Kleinsmith, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1961. Linda was a loving mother dedicated to her children. She was actively involved with and cherished her grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Linda was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and a member of their Retirees Club. Linda was a long-time active member of various chapters of Al-Anon in the Greater Hartford area and was always willing to help others in need. Linda enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards, Broadway Musicals, and ""Big Band"" music. She was also a loyal fan of the UCONN Women's basketball team, and the Boston Red Sox. Linda is survived by her husband and companion of fifty years, Roderick J. Cyr of East Hartford; two sons, Douglas J. Cyr and his wife, Sharon, of Cheshire, John D. Cyr of East Hartford; four daughters, Debbie Pattison and her husband, Stuart, of Trumbull, Diane J. Federico and her husband, Ralph, of East Hartford, Donna J. Szestakow of Wethersfield, Dorothy J. Vittner of Wethersfield; and fourteen adored grandchildren, Shayna, David, Phil, Matt, Danielle, Joe, Anthony, Jenna, Alex, Chelsea, Patrick, Christine, Dylan, and Brendan. She also leaves a brother, Frederick J. Kleinsmith, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Kingston, TN; a sister, Ida Ferris and her husband, Rev. Roger, of Seattle, WA; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be Monday (October 4th) at 9:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road/Brandon Road, East Hartford with Rev. James Fanelli officiating. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
