

Maria (Wrobel) Kecko, 89, of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 12, 2015 with her caring family by her side at Hartford Hospital. Born in Warsaw, Poland on July 24, 1925 she had been a resident of East Hartford for over 50 years. Prior to her retirement she was employed by Aetna Insurance Company, Hartford for over 15 years. Maria was a long-time communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford and St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hartford. She was a talented seamstress who sewed most of her own clothes and loved making things for others. She enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, especially going to the beach and spending time in the water along with boating. She also liked to cook and was known for her delicious pierogi's. Maria was predeceased by her husband, Jaroslaw ""Jerry"" Kecko in October of 1969. She is survived by her devoted son, Jerry A. Kecko and his long-time significant other, Annette Benker, of Glastonbury; a special dear friend, Wasyl Peleschuk; several other friends, neighbors, and former co-workers. Funeral service will be Friday (April 17th) at 9:15 am from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Ukrainian Cemetery, New London Turnpike, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (April 16th) from 4-6 pm.
