Maria Diaz Reyes

Maria “Meri” Diaz Reyes, 92, loving wife of the late Reinaldo Reyes, passed away on July 16, 2023. Born on January 15, 1931, to the late Claudio and Julia (Diaz) Reyes in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Maria spent her life as a house wife taking care of her husband and her children.

A devoted Pentecostal, Maria has been a long time member of Templo Fe Church in Hartford. Besides attending regular services there, she was also a Sunday School teacher, a bus driver, and was a member of the Women’s Ministry all at the church. Her other hobbies included sewing, cooking, window shopping, and most importantly being around her grandkids.

Maria is survived by and will be missed by eight children; Maria Agarano and husband Clark of NY, Carmen Capo and husband Jose of Connecticut, Elizabeth Gerber and husband Richard of NY, Michael Gonzalez and wife Mia of Kentucky, Frank Gonzalez of Maine, David Gonzalez of Arizona, Alfonso Reyes and wife Marisol of Connecticut, and Julio Reyes and wife Alexa of Texas. Along with her fifteen grandchildren; Walter, Johnny, Joey, Taylor, Robin, Melissa, Lindsay, Clark Jr., Kimberly, Jeanette, Frank Jr., Jennifer, Julie, Stephanie, Julian, 15 great-grandchildren, and niece Naomi Reyes. Besides her husband and parents, Maria is predeceased by two children; Adamina Polanski and husband Kevin, Reinaldo Reyes Jr., and her brother Manuel “Maneco” Reyes.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 10 am at Templo Fe Church, 1019 Broad St. Hartford, CT 06106. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford. Maria’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Templo Fe Church.
