
Mark A. Gosselin, Sr., 82, of East Hartford, beloved husband of 56 years to Elizabeth (Sullivan) Gosselin, passed away on Saturday, (August 7, 2010) at their home in East Hartford surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Bedford, MA, a son of the late Charles J. and Eileen (Vincent) Gosselin, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1957. Mark was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles J. Gosselin, Jr. and Donald V. Gosselin both of New Bedford, MA. Mark was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II serving as a Radio Man on the USS Protius in the North Atlantic and the Panama Canal. He was a graduate of Bryant University, Class of 1952. Following his graduation, Mark worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, Honeywell, and was the Founder/President of Data Consultants. He later retired from the State of Connecticut in 1997. Mark was an active and devoted member of St. Rose Church, East Hartford. He held great passion for his faith and family as well as woodworking, boating, fishing, gardening, and hosting his backyard bashes. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and more than anything, enjoyed being with his family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, Elizabeth, Mark is survived by his adoring children, Mark Gosselin and his wife, Sherry, of Hebron, Kathleen Ransford and her husband, James, of Portland, Pamela Zito and her husband, John, of Windsor, Elizabeth 'Beth' Lynch and her husband, Gregory, of Berlin, Barbara Rodegher and her husband, John, of Andover; and his brother, Raymond Gosselin and his wife, Jackie, of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his cousin and dear friend, Norman Richer and his wife, Jeanne, of Manchester. Mark was blessed with 14 grandchildren, John Zito, Jr., Derrick Ransford, Brendan Ransford, Mallory Gosselin, Drew Zito, Ryan Ransford, Chelsey Gosselin, Carson Ransford, Kayla Zito, Alyssa Lynch, Jenna Lynch, Kyle Rodegher, Celia Rodegher, and Evan Rodegher, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 11, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Mark's family will receive friends for calling hours on Tuesday, August 10, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
