

Mary V. (Sienkiewicz) Gagliardi, 100, of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Mary was the loving wife of over 49 years to the late Rocco Daniel Gagliardi. Born in New Britain on March 25, 1915, a daughter of the late Anthony and Veronica (Domalewski) Sienkiewicz, she had been a resident of East Hartford since 1935. Prior to her retirement she was employed for over 30 years at the Pilot Plant of the First National Bakery in East Hartford where she was a Cake Icer and also served as a Shop Steward. A devout Catholic, Mary was a long-time faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford and a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Guild. She was also a member and Past Regent of Father Drennan Circle Daughters of Isabella in East Hartford. She enjoyed crocheting and canning fruits and vegetables. She will also be remembered as the ultimate devoted care giver, who took care of her loved ones when they were ill. Mary is survived by a beloved daughter, Rose Marie G. O'Dea of East Hartford; three cherished grandchildren, Daniel O'Dea and his wife, Elizabeth, David O'Dea and his wife, Anna Maria, Mary-ellen Deleon and her husband, Hector all of East Hartford; three adored great-grandchildren, Mary Rose O'Dea, Sean O'Dea, Juliana Deleon all of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Roccine A. Gagliardi of East Hartford; three brothers, Anthony Sienkiewicz and Stanley Sienkiewicz both of New Britain, Francis Sienkiewicz of New York; two sisters, Helen S. Jones of Farmington and Ann S. McGinnis of Hartford; and a great-granddaughter, Maria Magdalena Deleon of East Hartford. Funeral service will be Friday (July 3rd) at 9 am from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section R-2), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel Thursday, July 2nd. from 5-7 pm.
