

Michael Del Greco, 60, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (May 22, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on March 15, 1953, he was a son of the late Herman and Mary (Winslow) Del Greco. A life-long resident of East Hartford, Michael was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1972 and Computer Processing Institute, East Hartford. During his professional career, Michael worked as a computer processing technician and customer service representative. He retired in 2009. A devout Catholic, Michael was a long-time active communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford where he served as an altar boy, CCD instructor, and Eucharistic Minister. Family and friends will remember Michael as a talented artist of original greeting cards, artwork, Christmas ornaments, and flower arrangements. Michael was one of the first recipients of a kidney transplant in 1979 at Hartford Hospital, generously donated by his sister, Carol. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his twin brother, James Del Greco of Manchester. Michael leaves behind his five sisters, Mary Massicotte and her husband, Cuyler, of East Hartford, Irene Tamiso and her husband, Thomas, of Broad Brook, Jean Del Greco and her partner, Jolene Rivard, of East Hartford, Carol McLaughlin and her fiancé, David Belanger, of Vernon, and Lois Machia of Stafford; five nephews and three nieces, including April Del Greco of Frankfort, ME with whom he had a special relationship; his best friend, Cheryl Burke of Michigan; many godchildren, and several other close friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 25 at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, corner of Main St./Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section P), Burnside Ave., East Hartford.
