Patricia J. Markey

Patricia J. (Donahue) Markey, 87, of East Hartford, loving wife of 63 years of the late John R. Markey, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Born in Concord, NH on May 6, 1929, a daughter of the late Patrick and Bertha (Plankey) Donahue, she had been a resident of East Harford since 1953. Patricia was a devoted Registered Nurse at Hartford Hospital for over 35 years, taking much pride in her days in the delivery and labor room. She enjoyed line-dancing, and cherished her visits with her many dear friends and family.

Patricia is survived by three sons, John P. Markey of East Hartford, Martin E. Markey of Rockville, David R. Markey also at home in East Hartford; three daughters, Deborah Vinci and her husband, Chet, of East Hartford, Maureen Markey-Ryan and her husband, Tim Ryan, of Ellington, Kathleen Markey-Shillington of Rockville and eleven adored grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Kay Towle of Dayton, Ohio; her dear longtime friend, Joyce Sadlak of Vernon; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Patricia was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.

Funeral service will be Wednesday (November 30th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. (Patricia’s family asks that everyone please go directly to the church on Wednesday morning). Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, Veteran’s Memorial Field #2, East Harford. Relatives and friends may call at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Tuesday (November 29th) from 4-7 pm.
