
Priscilla ""Pat"" (Dawkins) DiNeno, 94, of East Hartford, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 with her caring family by her side at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. Pat was the loving wife of over 48 years of the late Dominic DiNeno. Born in Camden, SC on November 27, 1918 she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 67 years. Prior to her retirement she was employed as a book keeper for over 25 years by A&P Grocery Stores in the Hartford area. A devout Catholic, Pat was a long time faithful communicant of St. Rose Church, East Hartford where she annually volunteered at the church carnival. Pat was also a former part-owner and excellent cook at Mayflower Luncheonette, Main Street, East Hartford. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and cooking for family and friends. Most of all, Pat's greatest pleasure was being with family and a loyal supporter and fan for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at sporting events and other activities. Besides her beloved husband, Pat was predeceased by two brothers, Otto Dawkins of Hartford, and William Dawkins of Warehouse Point; and a sister, Katherine ""Kitty"" Mudano of East Hartford. Pat is survived by two sons, Dominic D. DiNeno and his wife, Gail, of Wakefield, RI, and William ""Bill"" DiNeno and his wife, Mary, of Glastonbury; two daughters, Corrine O'Brien of Atlantis, FL, and Patti Rakauskas and her husband, John, of East Hartford; thirteen special grandchildren, Joyce-Ann Topshe, Deborah Solomon, Chris DiNeno, David DiNeno, Keith DiNeno, Joseph O'Brien, Jr., Jeff O'Brien, William DiNeno, Jr., Elizabeth Tillinghast, Patricia DiNeno, Cheryl DiNeno, Mark Rakauskas, and Jason Rakauskas; twenty-four adored great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Thursday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, (Section R-2), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O.
