

Regina “Nina” Senecal, 92, of East Hartford, beloved wife of pre-deceased husband Jean Paul Senecal, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 surrounded by her family’s love. She was born in Notre Dame du Lac, Quebec and moved to the United States on an adventure with her sister Germaine. She retired from Northeast Utilities Company. Nina was the best grandmother and mother! She was a philanthropist who cared more about everyone else than herself and devoted herself to her family and the church. She was loved by everyone who knew her and touched people instantly with her positive outlook on life! She was a modern day hero and she will never be forgotten and will live on in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her children, her son Michael Senecal and his wife Patricia of Vernon and her daughter Jane Peters and her husband Craig of East Hartford, along with her 3 adored grandchildren, Nicole Lajoie, Brittany Lajoie and Katie Senecal aka Number 1, Number 2 and Number 3, and her step-grandchildren, Angela Peters and Brian Peters and their families. She is the daughter of the late Thomas Lavoie and Odile Martin. She is one of 15 children. She is survived by her sister, Beth Bengel and her husband Earl of San Jose CA, Germaine Beeman of Inverness, FL, Diana Lavoie of Sherbrooke, Quebec; and her sisters-in-law, Madeleine Lavoie and Alice Elliot. She is predeceased by her brothers, Ivanhoe, Conrad, Adrien, Rev. Brother Claude Lavoie; and her sisters, Jeanne Boisvert, Bernadette Charest, Adrienne Boisvert, and Alida Lavoie all of Quebec.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. There are no calling hours. At the request of Regina’s family, everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Regina’s name may be made to Partnership for Strong Communities, 227 Lawrence Street, Hartford, CT 06106. The D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
