

Rose (Morin) Yergeau, 83, of Glastonbury and a long-time former resident of Sandra Drive, East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, (January 25, 2012) with her daughter by her side. Rose was the loving wife for 27 years to the late Roger R. Yergeau. Born in Holyoke, MA on August 11, 1928, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Rose M. (Gaudette) Morin, she had been a resident of East Hartford for 52 years before moving to Glastonbury over two years ago. Rose was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA, Class of 1946. Prior to her retirement, Rose was employed for over 20 years by Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford. Upon her retirement, Rose was a school crossing guard for the town of East Hartford for over 20 years and volunteered many hours for Meals on Wheels in East Hartford, St. John's Soup Kitchen and for the American Red Cross area blood drives. A devout catholic, Rose was a long-time active communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford where she was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers, and was a past President of the Adult Social Club and the former Ladies Guild. Rose was a member of the East Hartford Democratic Party and of the Democratic Town Committee, and also worked at the polls on election days. Rose was a talented crochet artist and was known by many for all her afghans she made and gave to relatives and friends. She enjoyed the game of Bonko and water aerobics with her friends. Most of all, Rose was proud of her children and grandchildren. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Rose was predeceased by an infant son, Paul Yergeau, and a sister, Emily LaMontagne of Virginia Beach, VA. She is survived by her five devoted children, sons, Roger R. Yergeau and his wife, Martha, of Ossining, NY, Edward J. Yergeau and his wife, Gayle, of Manchester, Robert J. Yergeau of Temecula, CA, and daughters, Marie T. Lemerise and her husband, Richard, of Brooklyn, NY, Paula Anne Brown and her husband, Wesley, of Bardowie, Scotland. She also leaves eight special grandchildren; two adored great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be Monday (January 30th) at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, (Section C), East Hartford.
