

Roselyn Louise (McSweegan) Turgeon, 79, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Joseph Edward Turgeon, Jr., peacefully passed away on Tuesday (October 21, 2008) at her home with her caring family by her side. Born in Hartford on January 7, 1929, a daughter of the late James P. and Elizabeth (Reynolds) McSweegan, she had resided in East Hartford for the past fifty-six years. Roselyn was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1947 and the Connecticut Teacher's College (CCSU) in New Britain, Class of 1951. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over twenty years as a Fourth-Grade educator at St. James Parochial School in Manchester. Roselyn was a long-time communicant of St. Mary's Church, East Hartford where she was a member of their Ladies Guild and a volunteer at the church Bingo. Roselyn loved swimming and water aerobics and was a long-time member of the East Hartford Senior Water Aerobics, as well as being an avid 10-Pin bowler with the 'Prime Timers' at Silver Lane AMF Bowling Alley in East Hartford. She was also a member of the 'Chucklers'-graduates of Connecticut Teacher's College. However, Roselyn's greatest joy in life was being a proud mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Along with her beloved husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph P. McSweegan of Hartford and a sister, Elizabeth Maznicki of Mt. Airy, GA. Roselyn is survived by three daughters, Catherine Mary Turgeon of East Hartford with whom she made her home, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Boggie and her husband, Gordon, of Jupiter, FL, Patricia Lynn Turgeon Stavola and her husband, John, of Glastonbury; three sons, Joseph Edward Turgeon III of Bolton, Steven James Turgeon and his wife, Jonne, of South Windsor, David John Turgeon and his wife, Judith, of Hebron; two sisters, Mary McSweegan Finn of Glastonbury, Jane Vitkauskas of Enfield; a sister-in-law, Mary McSweegan of Glastonbury; a brother-in-law, Theodore Maznicki of Mt. Airy, GA; a special friend, Lloyd Durocher of East Hartford; a former daughter-in-law, Janet C. Turgeon of Manchester; ten adored grandchildren, Jason Turgeon, Daniel Turgeon, James Turgeon, Julia Turgeon, Timothy Stavola, Abigail Stavola, James Stavola, William Stavola, Lindsey Turgeon, and Valerie Turgeon; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 25, at 8:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, corner of Maplewood Ave./Main St., East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
