

Sandra Ann (Konon) Abo, 71, of East Hartford, loving wife of 45 years of Bill E. Abo, entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Born in Hartford on November 30, 1946, daughter of the late Nicholas A. and Ann J. (Bodziach) Konon, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Sandra was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1964. A woman of faith, Sandra was a former long-time member of All Saints Russian Orthodox Church, Hartford. Prior to starting a family, Sandra enjoyed working at G. Fox & Co., Hartford and Krause Caterers in East Hartford. Sandra loved her family and always put them first. She took great pride in making special occasions special and enjoyed having family celebrations. Her love even spilled over to her African violet plants which she would call her ‘little babies’ as she grew and cultivated them from clippings. She loved her pet parakeets and also bird watching in her own backyard. Sandra was an accomplished baker and cook having won several ribbons and awards. In addition to being a devoted wife and wonderful mother, she truly cherished being a grandmother to her two grandsons.
Together with her beloved husband Bill, Sandra is survived by two sons, Bill Edward Abo, Jr. and his wife, Christal, of East Hartford, Mark Nicholas Abo and his wife, Laurie, of Coventry; a daughter, Amy Alexandria Abo and her husband, Jason T. Kiely, of Bloomfield; two brothers, Nicholas A. Konon, Jr. and his wife, Kristan, of East Hampton, Frederick P. Konon and his wife, Gina, of Colchester; a brother-in-law, Richard Abo and his wife, Patricia, of Glastonbury; two adored grandsons, Landon E. Abo and Keaton E. Abo both of Coventry; two grand puppies, Freckles and Sadie; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday morning (May 26, 2018) at 9 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, (Section 38), Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday (May 25th) from 4 – 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sandra’s name may be made to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation, Inc., 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
