
Sandra Kownacki D’Angona died unexpectedly in Connecticut on April 18, 2011. The daughter of Barbara and Joseph Kownacki, Sandra grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, graduating from Southern Connecticut University where she later returned to complete her Master’s Degree. Soon after her marriage, she relocated to Duxbury, MA where she raised her three children, daughters Chelsea and Jordan and son Justin. Sandra called Duxbury home for more than twenty five years, treasuring her many friendships and actively participating in activities with her children and the Duxbury Garden Club. Sandra especially loved teaching young children and worked for several years at the Berrybrook School in Duxbury. After leaving Duxbury to move to California, she continued teaching children at the Montessori School in Laguna Beach. Besides being an avid reader, Sandra loved to walk with her friends around Powder Point to experience the natural beauty of Duxbury. She had a keen interest in birds and vegetation and would often marvel at the wonders of nature. Sandra was a strong advocate for environmental preservation. She was always quick to sing a song and lent her beautiful voice to many occasions. A true friend and loving mother, Sandra’s personality and love of family always shined brightly. Sandra will be missed by many, as she touched so many lives with her humor, loving personality and caring nature. Sandra is survived by her father, Joseph Kownacki of Maine and Florida; son Justin D’Angona of Los Angeles, CA; daughters Chelsea D’Angona of Washington, DC and Jordan D’Angona of Corona del Mar, CA; brother Robert Kownacki and his wife Dru, daughter Allison and son Brian; sister Patricia Loomis and daughter Christina Loomis Halle all of Connecticut; former husband Richard D’Angona of Corona del Mar, CA; brother-in-law Brian d’Angona; sister-in-law Lynn d’Angona, all of Boston, MA and Kelli d’Angona Usher and her husband Eric and daughter Zoe, of Valencia, CA. Sandra was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Kownacki.
Burial at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT will be on June 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Duxbury, MA on June 4, 2011.
