Stella Annette Girard (Goyette)

Stella Annette (Goyette) Girard, 97, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Stella was born in Canada, August 15, 1913, the youngest of 11 children of the late Marie (Fournier) and Edourd Goyette. Stella was a homemaker and a long-time communicant of St. Ann’s Church, Hartford, before moving to East Hartford in 1995. She enjoyed creating beautiful quilts and knitted items for her family and friends, as well as cooking and baking for her family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Alcide O. Girard; and two sons, Marc and Marcel Girard. Stella is survived by her son, Aime Girard and his wife, Joanne of Palm City, FL and Suffield, daughter-in-law, Lise Girard of Windsor, son, Leo Girard of North Haven, daughter, Rita Gagner and her husband, Robert, of South Windsor, daughter Yvette Drurey and husband, Harold, of Westerly, RI, son Roch Girard and his wife, Jeanine, of East Hartford, and daughter, Jacqueline Girard of Tolland. She was blessed with 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Amanda Goyette of Canada, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Saturday (May 28th) at 9 am from the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church, May Road/Brandon Rd., East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, (Section Y), Bloomfield. Relatives and friends are welcome to join Stella’s family on Friday (May 27th) from 4-7pm at the funeral home chapel.
