Virginia “Ginger” (Oney) Burdo, 76, of East Hartford, loving wife of 42 years of the late James E. Burdo, Sr., passed away peacefully with her caring family by her side on Monday, November 18, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born in Hartford on November 2, 1943, a daughter of the late Charles and Sybil (Weeks) Oney, she had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. Virginia enjoyed bowling, square-dancing, and was a long-time avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
Virginia is survived by a son, Jim Burdo, Jr. of East Hampton; a daughter, Debra “Deb” Wallick and her husband, Nick, of Amston; three cherished grandchildren, James E. Burdo, III of Colchester, Patrick J. Burdo of Pennsylvania, Jamie Gaudet and her husband, Charles, of Somers; three adored great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Lily, and McKenzy; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Virginia was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Oney of California, Richard Oney and Ronald Oney both of East Hartford; and two sisters, Cheryl Roberts and Laurie Gilbert both of East Hartford.
A graveside service will be Friday (November 22nd) at 11:30 am at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the cemetery on Friday morning). Virginia’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday afternoon (November 21st) from 2 – 5 pm at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
