

Amelia T. Martinez, 79 passed away on September 3rd, 2012 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Sabino and Cira Torres, uncle Andres Valencia, sisters Monsie Macias and Velia Munoz. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years Cerjio F. Martinez, Sr., daughters Sandra Jo Pulido, Gloria Jean and Daniel Pinon Sr., sons Cerjio Jr. and Sylvia Aguilar, Roland and Peyton Martinez. Her five grandchildren: Daniel Jr. and Jennifer Pinon, Valerie Jo, Daniel Jr., Amanda Jo Pulido and Sela Rae Martinez, and two great grandchildren Benjamin Pinon and Brianna Jo Pulido, two sisters Hortencia Sanchez and Enriqueta Duran. Amelia graduated from Loretto Academy in 1951. She also attended El Paso Community College. She retired from the E.P.I.S. D. in 1996. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life was committed to nurturing and inspiring her children and grandchildren to become the best they could be. She was the support, courage, and motivation for her loving husband. One of her greatest joys was baking especially during the Christmas season. She enjoyed many hobbies and one of her favorite was that of reading her love story magazines. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the casinos; she was always ready with her quarters. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and her goal was to visit all 48 contiguous states, of which they visited 35. Amelia was a beautiful, vibrant and courageous woman and her absence will be felt by all she has touched. Visitation for Amelia will be on Sunday, September 9th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the rosary at 7 p.m. at Martin Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Church 4805 Byron on Monday, September 10th at 9:45 a.m. Rite of Committal at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery immediately following the mass.
