Nechie was a proud Navy veteran who served in the Korean war on the USS Radford Fletcher-class destroyer from 1951-1955. On September 22, 1957, Nechie married Maria Teodora Arellano of El Paso, Texas.
He was employed in 1957 by the El Paso Electric Company for the next 32 years. After his retirement in 1989 he returned to Civil Service Work on Ft. Bliss where he was a tow truck driver for the next 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andres and Hortensia Martinez and his wife Maria Teodora Martinez, his brother Hector Martinez and his daughter Monica Lisa Reyes. He is survived by his sister Martha Sepulveda, his brother Robert Martinez and his three children, Irma Powell, Melissa Betancourt and Andres Martinez III. He had four grandchildren, Jorge Reyes Jr., Nicolas Reyes, Ashley Marie Powell-Bond, and Joshua Eduardo Betancourt; and three great-grandchildren, Autumn Avery Reyes, Jorge Luis Reyes III and Adalynne Ariel Pena.
Visitation for Andres will be held Monday, March 30, 2026, from 10:30am to 11:30am at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903. A funeral mass will occur at 12:00 pm at San Antonio De Padua, 503 Hunter Drive, El Paso, Texas 79915; with interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. El Paso, Texas 79906.
