Antonia Garcia Wilks

Antonia Garcia Wilks was born in Sain Alto, Zacatecas, Mexico on January 17, 1939. She was the last of the seven children born to Asencion and Manuel Antonio Garcia and she was the last one to remain on this earth. Her peaceful passing into the rest of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the morning of January 29, 2024. She had just celebrated her 85th birthday surrounded by loving family. Up until the week prior to her passing, mom was alert and strong. She fought cancer valiantly but finally said, “I’m ready.” She left on her terms.

Her parents Asencion and Manuel Garcia, her sisters Raquel, Augustina, Damiana, Maria and Manuela, her brother Juan Antonio, and her husbands Frank Wilks Sr. and Frank T. Myers Jr. predeceased Antonia.

Antonia is survived by her eldest son Frank Jr., wife Teresa, their children Amber Villanueva (Arturo), Ashley Wilks, their grandchildren Lilly and Jaxon Villanueva. Her son Manuel “Tony”, his wife Donna, Tony’s children Lucas, Meghan Mahoney (Jonathan) and Clayton Josef Barb. Her daughter Grace, fiancé Stephen McCune, Grace’s children Jason Lujan, Erin Nathan (Matthew), Eli Lujan (Jessica,) Krista Darling and her grandchildren Cassandra Fackler, Connor Rowell, Vincent Nathan, Severin Nathan, Kodie Fletcher, Evelyn Nathan and River Lujan.

Antonia also leaves behind many nieces and nephews but the two that were more sisters than nieces are Ludivina Cardoza and Socorro Valdez. Special consideration goes out to her stepchildren, Matthew Myers (Kyle), Therese Harmacek (Dale) and Miriam Cochran.

The family would also like to recognize Raul (Ruly) Villa Jr., and Jesus and Carmen Ramirez for their assistance in allowing mom to retain her independence for so long. Thank you to Dr. Gethin Williams and his staff and to Dr. Luis Rochin for their care and kindness to mom.

Public visitation for Antonia is February 19, 2024 from 5 – 6 p.m., and Rosary from 6 – 8 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso Texas 79903. Funeral Mass at Guardian Angel Catholic Church 3021 Frutas Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79905 on February 20, 2024 at 9 a.m. Followed by interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11 a.m.
