Arturo (Tury) Garcia, 70, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in El Paso, Texas. Born on January 13, 1955, in the same city he called home throughout his life, Art was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Art dedicated nearly three decades of his life to serving his community as a firefighter. For 29 years, he worked with courage and commitment, finding deep fulfillment in a career that allowed him to help others. His time in the fire service was not just a job—it was a calling that reflected his integrity and generous spirit.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Martha Garcia. Together they built a life filled with love and shared adventures. Art found great joy in spending time outdoors with his family; fishing and camping trips were among his favorite pastimes. These moments created lasting memories for those closest to him.
Arturo was a proud father to daughter Samantha Sapien and sons Orlando Sapien (Espie), Joseph Sapien (Crystal), and Eric Betancourt. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren—Anthony, Nick, Hailey, Zoey, Nathan, Jordan, Richard (Jacqueline), and Samantha—and four great-grandchildren: Jayden, Alycin, Dallas, and Ashoka. He cherished each of them deeply and took pride in watching them grow.
He is also remembered by his sister Maria Louisa Molinar (Adiel) and brother Mike Garcia (Sadie), who shared in the bonds of family and support throughout the years.
Arturo was preceded in death by his parents Alicia T. Garcia and Juan Garcia; and siblings Elvira Bustamante, Juan Garcia Jr., Roberto Garcia, Ramon Garcia, Hector Garcia, Connie Rodriguez, and Chita Garcia.
Those who knew Art will remember him as a kind-hearted and genuine man. "If someone needed help, he didn't hesitate, he showed up, Not for recognition or praise, but because that's who he was, a person of unwavering principles who lived with humility and purpose. His warmth touched many lives and left an enduring impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and strength to carry forward the values he embodied.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue with a rosary beginning at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10,000 Pheasant Road. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana Avenue.
