Arturo Salas Sr., age 101, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, a member to the catholic church and served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWll. Arturo went on to become a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and retired after many years of hard work and dedication. He loved playing golf, traveling, dancing and was an avid bowler. He was such a great bowler that he went on to the pros in El Paso.
Arturo was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gloria O. Salas; son, Arturo Salas, Jr; and brother, Gonzalo Salas. He is survived by his sons; Alfredo D. and Edward A. Salas, daughter-in-law, Linda, and daughter Sylvia Salas, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Arturo will be held Monday, December 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a vigil at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel-Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, December 10th, at 12:00 PM at St. Raphael Catholic Church with interment to follow in Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
Arturo was a great man with a big heart and was well respected. He lived a good life and was able to celebrate his 101st birthday with family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
