

Aurora O. Amor, 94, of El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, September 4, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Aurora was born on January 6, 1921 in Chandler, Arizona to Cipriano and Angela Ortiz. She was a devout Catholic. On July 29, 1939 Aurora married her true love Francisco Amor with whom she raised nine children and several grandchildren. As a young girl, Aurora loved to sew. She became an extraordinary seamstress that created numerous prom, quinceañera and wedding gowns for her daughters, granddaughters and friends of the family. She was also known for her beautiful crochet, gardening and delicious Mexican dishes. Aurora also found time to serve her community in various organizations. These included being a den mother, becoming a Life-Time member of the PTA, and volunteering at the Henderson Clinic, The Boys and Girls Club, and Aoy Elementary School. Later in life, Aurora fulfilled her dream of obtaining a high school diploma from Bowie High School. She was employed by and retired from El Paso Independent School district as a Teacher’s Aide at Vilas Elementary Highland School of Special Education and Henderson Middle School. Aurora was passionate about dancing, listening to Mexican music and the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Las Vegas and especially to Dallas to watch her all-time favorite player, Troy Aikman. In her quiet time, she played solitaire with real cards, solved Seek and Find puzzles and watched novelas.
Aurora is survived by her children. Alicia Amor-Valdespino, Rosalia (Saúl Valenzuela) Amor, Francisco (Ana) Amor Jr., Celia (Gonzalo) Amor-Estrada, Jose (Martha) Amor, Josefina (Jose Sosa) Amor, David Amor, Son-in-law Francisco Valles Jr. Also survived by 30 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law, Ausencio Amor, sister: Manuela Alarcon.
Aurora was preceded in death by: her husband, Francisco Amor Sr., her children: Enrique Amor and Armida Amor-Valles and Enrique Amor, her parents: Cipriano and Angela Ortiz, brothers: Antonio, Rafael and Daniel Ortiz, sisters: Concepcion Hernandez and Maria Rubalcava.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with rosary at 7:00pm at F.D.A. Martin Central. Funeral mass will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:15 am at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 3021 Frutas Ave. Committal service to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
