Belen was born March 15, 1955 in Ysleta, TX to Jose “Chepo” and Carolina Carmona. She was the fourth youngest of her 8 brothers and sisters. During her childhood she played sports, to include softball as an outfielder for several years.
Belen started working at the young age of 16. She took pride in her work and was a very hard worker. She worked at several factories, to include Farah, Levi’s, Wrangler and also the Family Thrift Center and Wal-Mart. Her dedication at work often earned her recognition like Employee of the Month.
Belen’s greatest joy was her family. She was the proud mother to Lisa,
Abel and Jose Lorenzo. They blessed her with 8 grandchildren who she loved very much. She loved attending their school activities and games. She looked forward to spending time with her family, whether it was for a Tamaleada, Football Fandango, the Super Bowl or someone’s birthday. Belen also had dozens of close friends that she cherished like family. They lifted her spirits in her last days.
Belen’s infectious laugh could light up a room. She was a great pool player, playing in leagues. She loved to dance Cumbia, belt out El Grito and gamble. You could catch her trying to give good vibes to a slot machine at Speaking Rock. She was an excellent cook with menudo and chile con queso being her specialties. Belen was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. One of her favorite things to do was watch the games at her brother Sam’s house, surrounded by family, and celebrate the Cowboys victories with a traditional parade down the street.
She put up a courageous fight while ill. She kept a positive outlook and never complained, always exhibiting her strength.
Belen was preceded in death by her parents, Jose “Chepo” and Carolina, and her beloved brother Samuel Carmona. She is survived by her children Lisa, Abel and Jose Lorenzo (Shauna) Carmona, grandchildren Abraham (Linda) Ochoa, Marisa (Cris) Tumbaco, Francisco Estrada, Diego, Nathaniel and Ariah Carmona, Charlotte and Harper Carmona, great-grandchildren, Lisa Marie and Eli Jace Ochoa, siblings, Manuel (Alicia) Carmona, Ricardo (Lourdes) Carmona, Lydia (Patrick) Sokoh, Susana Carmona, Rogelio (Becky) Carmona, Eloy Carmona, Patricia Enriquez and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, from 4:30-8pm, with Rosary at 6pm at La Purisima Catholic Church at 328 S. Nevarez Rd, Socorro, TX. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, November 20 at 11:30am at the Socorro Mission with interment immediately following. Services entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, Texas. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons: Abel, Jose Lorenzo, Abraham, Diego, Nathaniel and Francisco. Honorary pallbearers are her brothers: Manuel, Ricardo, Rogelio and Eloy.
