Demetria "Demi" Munoz peacefully passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021 surrounded by her family. Demi was born in Big Spring, TX and moved to El Paso when she was six years old. She attended St Joseph School and, she transferred to El Paso Technical High School (La Tech) where she graduated in 1962. Demi graduated from EPCC in 1976 and transferred to UTEP where she graduated in 1978 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She began her education career teaching Art in middle schools and finished her career at Guillen Middle School where she taught English as Second Language. Demi studied art under then art teacher and renowned landscape artist Eugene Thurston. After retirement, Demi devoted her time painting and enjoying her two grandchildren Rubi and Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son David in 2005. Demi is survived by husband Dr. Raul Munoz, daughter Sandra, granddaughter Rubi and grandson Jacob, sister Elisa Armendariz, sister-in-law Blanca Munoz Soforo and husband Federico along with all nephews and nieces.
Demi was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, friend, and grandmother. She will be sorely missed by all family members and friends, and she will be missed at the annual Tech High reunions with all the Tech fun-loving gang.
Funeral services will be coordinated by Funeral del Angel Central at 3839 Montana. Viewing 5-8 PM and Rosary will be offered Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 7 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Central. Mass is scheduled for 10 AM Friday, September 24, 2021, at St Joseph Church on 3729 Hueco Avenue and interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
