Edmundo D. Medrano, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Edmundo was a lifelong resident of El Paso, where he graduated from Bowie High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Western College. He was a proud World War II Veteran and was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and Army Occupation Ribbons (Japan). Always an active member of the community, he served as a LULAC board member, a trustee of the El Paso Independent School District, and as a member of the Board of Directors for Region 19. He retired from the Army Corp of Engineers in 1986 after 35 years of Civil Service. Edmundo was preceded in death by his wife, Beatriz R. Medrano and son, Edmundo Jr. (Olga). He is survived by sister, Mague Ahumada; son, William Medrano (Margarita); daughters, Teresa Medrano and Patricia Garcia; granddaughters, Adriana Garcia-McGee, Diana Payne, Marina Garcia, Maya Medrano; and great granddaughter, Amelia McGee. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 8th from 5 pm to 9 pm at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, with Vigil at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 9th at 9:15 am at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church, 4700 Delta. Edmundo will be laid to rest with his wife at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
